. BE A LEADER IN THE TRANSFORMATION FROM A RISK INITIATIVE TO A BROADER FOCUS OF QUALITY CARE, PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT AND PATIENT SAFETY.
An important step in this journey is education for physicians on the science of patient safety and the process for quality and performance improvement.
Caregivers must incorporate processes that help create a culture of patient safety, and processes that clinicians believe are important in contributing to good care for all patients. Our goal is to enhance quality of care through promoting involvement of physicians in quality measurement and improvement.
Quality and Performance Improvement creates patient–centered care and is the right thing to do. We know that patients and their involvement in care can influence the quality of care.
To this end, this quality and patient safety web page offers educational materials, performance improvement tools, a roadmap for quality, resource materials from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), the Joint Commission, the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and others. A listing of links to additional resources is also available.
