A member of the board since 1999, Dr. Wilson has served as chairperson since July 2011 and was also the company’s chief executive officer from 2011-2017. Before joining MagMutual, Dr. Wilson practiced interventional cardiology in Atlanta for 27 years.
After graduating from Vanderbilt University in 1973 with a degree in economics, Dr. Wilson continued his studies at Emory University, where he received his doctorate in medicine in 1977. Further training included an internship at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, a cardiology registrar at Princess Margaret Hospital in New Zealand and a cardiology fellowship at Vanderbilt University. In 1984, he began his cardiology practice in Atlanta with privileges at both Saint Joseph’s and Northside hospitals.
Dr. Wilson is board-certified in cardiology and interventional cardiology and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He has served on the clinical faculty at Vanderbilt University and Emory University.
Named one of the Top Doctors in the Atlanta area by Atlanta Magazine, Dr. Wilson also has held many elected positions, including governor of the American College of Cardiology and president of the Georgia Chapter of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Wilson served as medical director of the Peachtree Road Race from 1987-2016.
