PRESENTED BY  Hall Whitworth, MD

The ubiquitous electronic health record (EHR) has had benefits for providers and patients; more accurate ordering, quicker access to health records and patient accessibility to records are some of the benefits. But there are also potential danger areas in the EHR. We will look at potential areas of liability in the EHR; hackers who want to steal EHRs, data entry traps, and the EHR as a communication barrier will all be explored in the context of real-life cases from MagMutual. We will also discuss tactics that we can use to lessen the chance that we will incur liability because of our EHR.

Registration Fee: $35

  1. Understanding the requirements for thorough and timely documentation of a patient's course.
  2. Documenting instructions to patients and their understanding.
  3. Impact of EMR on consistent documentation.
