Slip, Trip and Fall: Prevention and Resources
Preventing slip, trip and fall events
Slip, trip and fall policy
This policy is created to guide the facility in handling slip, trip and fall incidents. This policy outlines each step the facility should take prior to, during and after an incident occurs. This Policy also includes a sample Incident Report, Claimant Statement and Witness Statement that should be used in the event an incident occurs. The Incident Report included in this Policy is a supplement to any electronic incident report required by the facility, and does not take the place of any report required by the facility.
Falls can be a source of serious injuries to patients in healthcare facilities. The assessment and accompanying measures are designed to prevent and/or reduce the number and severity of falls. The ultimate goal of a falls program is prevention of injury. This guideline will assist in taking the necessary steps to reduce the number and severity of falls.
