Dr. Lietz practiced emergency medicine for 31 years in Charlotte, North Carolina, with Mid-Atlantic Emergency Medical Associates. He is currently the Medical Director for Elon University's Physician Assistant Studies program in Charlotte.
He earned his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and his medical degree from The Ohio State University School of Medicine. He completed an internship with the Eastern Virginia Medical School Department of Internal Medicine and residency training with the same institution’s Department of Emergency Medicine.
A fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and board-certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Lietz is a member of the North Carolina College of Emergency Physicians and the American College of Emergency Physicians. He served as chair of the Novant Health Emergency Services Shared Governance Council and is a former president of the North Carolina Medical Board, serving two terms with the organization.
