Bains Fleming is a trial lawyer. He has tried more than 25 cases to verdict in courtrooms across Alabama. Bains is a thought leader on trial strategies and known for his innovative approach and unwavering commitment to the defense of civil lawsuits.

Bains joined MMPO Defense in October 2024 as Chief Trial and Managing Attorney to establish the Alabama office, working to expand quality legal representation to MagMutual’s PolicyOwners and insureds in Alabama. Bains understands the importance of vigorously defending healthcare providers and offering guidance to those who face the uncertainties of the litigation process.

Before coming to MMPO Defense, Bains was a partner in a boutique litigation firm where he had a wide-ranging practice focused on the defense of catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death cases. Bains is a Martindale-Hubbell AV® rated attorney. He has been recognized by Super Lawyers® in the area of Personal Injury Defense – Medical Malpractice since 2016.

Bains is active in the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) where he co-chairs the Trial Techniques and Tactics Committee, was on the faculty for the IADC 50th Annual Trial Academy, and is on the steering committee for the IADC’s Medical Liability Roundtable.

In 2024, Bains was elected to serve as the President-Elect of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association (ADLA). He previously served in various roles on the ADLA’s Board of Directors and was the President of the ADLA’s Young Lawyers section.

Bains holds a JD from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law and a BA from Washington and Lee University.

Bains lives in Birmingham with his wife, a healthcare attorney, and their two daughters. He is an active member of his church. He serves the community through the Rotary Club of Birmingham, March of Dimes, and other civic organizations. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, hunting, and coaching youth sports.
